Research Grants
We at the Spierings Cancer Foundation are always looking to provide grants for important cancer research. The goal of our grant making process is a review of creative new directions in clinical and/or translational research and in need of funding. Unsolicited requests for funding are welcomed at any time of the year. The Board of Directors and scientific advisors generally review proposals as they are received, however grant monies are usually given following our primary annual fundraiser Rock Cancer, held in late summer.
There is no set format for proposals, but the Foundation generally requests a brief project narrative, lay language summary suitable for public use, budget and budget narrative. Special consideration is given to research conducted at Wisconsin institutions.
Considerable latitude is given to the investigators in terms of the research proposed. The Board of Directors believes that of the most important advances in understanding cancer will most likely occur by enabling brilliant minds to pursue their most creative theories.
